ISTORIA D'AMORE A NIPPO (1917) by Arturo Martini

Project

Ca’ Pesaro, International Gallery of Modern Art, Room 10
From May 18th to July 8th 2012

EXHIBITION EXTENDED UNTIL AUGUST 19th 2012!

The cycle of dossier exhibitions in Room 10 of Ca’ Pesaro, opens with a survey of Arturo Martini’s work as printmaker. Through the plates for Istoria d’amore a Nippo, a folder of seven gold-coloured linocuts on beige paper, the small exhibition offers the possibility of discovering a little-known side of the famous artist’s production; born in Treviso, the artist is famous for his sculptures.

In this sequence of prints, Arturo Martini (Treviso 1889 – Milan 1947) presents a dramatic, mysterious love story in which the characters, surrounded by a wild and harsh nature, indicated by a firm, bold line, live the events of their lives in a legendary time marked by the great star moving through the sky.
